About the Cafe
Café Paradiso opened its doors on June 1st, 2007 to become the first Italian Restaurant in Urbana, Ohio.
Owners Pat and Patsy Thackery wanted to help the revitalization of the Downtown Historic District by providing an additional choice in dining for Urbana and West Central Ohio. The building was obtained by the Thackery's in December of 2006 and had previously housed a breakfast and lunch landmark known as the Paradise Café which took its name from the 1930’s restaurant Paradise Lunch; a family owned diner where many businessmen met with their associates over lunch.
Through the years the restaurant changed hands several times, but the majority of the owners have tried to stay true to the original name in some form or another. This tradition has become immensely popular to the local patrons, and is almost as monumental to the people of Urbana as the monument that defines Monument Square where Café Paradiso calls home.
“By providing quality service and value to our customers we will continue to be successful for generations to come” Pat Thackery.
Future plans for the historic building include the development of two large high-end loft apartments on the second and third floors that look down upon monument square and the ever growing city of Urbana.
